Very sweet and fruity on the nose. Like a can of candies. Red apple, peach and fresh malt. Yummy! Aromas are pleasant but wafer-thin in the nose, not much happens in the mouth and the finish is short. Nice whisky, sure, but I think it would have been better if we had had some patience. A few more years would have done him good, I guess.

Definitely improves with a drop of water.
Turns it in to a fruity and oily dram, instead of a razor sharp one.

For me personally, this whisky could have matured in cask for a few more years. The alcohol is still too aggressive. As a result of which the fresh fruit is too quickly dominated.
    • Nose
Alcoholic scent, glue, pear, green apple, lemon, banana, apricot, pineapple, lemon, hint of ginger, cinnamon, sawdust and caramel
    • Taste
Lemon, pear, apple, melon, vanilla, butter babbler, nutty, spicy and pencil sharps
    • Finish
Medium, dry, alcoholic, spicy, green apple, lemon zest, hint of ginger, apricot and banana

This is a perfect example of a whisky bottled way too soon. Pity. It’s just a sharp peppery bomb that kills the Glen Elgin profile. Pity.

Nose is fine. Quite bitter in the taste but this disappears in the finish.

Lovely fruity nose with citrus fruits and caramel. With a little water, the caramel makes way for vanilla.
    • Taste
      86 86
The alcohol is not (yet) well integrated and therefore dominates too much in my opinion. Some water does it good and brings things better in balance. This might have been on the barrel a little longer.
    • Finish
      86 86
If the taste were as good as the smell I would have scored it 1-2 point (s) higher. Still a great dram.

It starts of very fruity and fresh, but in the body alcohol shows itself, making it a pretty powerful dram. Together with the strength of the alcohol, also some bitterness comes in, which suggests that the alcohol hasn't completely integrated yet, perhaps keeping this in the cask a few years longer would have fixed that. In that case it would be a véry beautiful whisky, but now it still is a good and pleasant one, no doubt.
    • Nose
Fruity, citrus, very floral as well, also some 'Dreft' lemon detergent. Caramel sweetness, honey. Pretty full nose, not too much alcohol.
    • Taste
Pretty strong, pepper, licorice, honey 'drop', some orange. Full body. Later on more caramel sweetness. Then some little bitter note underneath.
    • Finish
A bit more quiet now, some sweetness stull, licorice, a little bitter touch, orange zest, some peach. Some wood, middle long. Later on certainly some clear grapefruit.
The finish gains in strength after some while. More wood.
