Tasted at the 2nd Whiskybase Gathering in Rotterdam, November 2017.

quite a intense meaty Bunna with some nutty and fruity sherry cask influences.

on the mouth quite coastal like, with a healthy dose of sea minerals.

Fruity - lychees, raspberries and yellow fruits. Pastry, waxy, almonds and some earthy notes.

Medium drying with fruits and some raisins.

    Excellent Bunna !
    • Nose
Coastal nose mixed with wet leather, sweet canned light fruits, pineapple, apricots
    • Taste
Enters like a unheated PE, then a hint of peat, growing spices, fruity and sweet, honey melon,
    • Finish
medium long Finish fading out in sweet apricots and honey tones

  12. pilgrim77 scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Complex nose, with salty sea air combining with marzipan, freshly cut grass, hazelnuts and a hint of musty leather. Water released more fruity notes, including some ripe tropical notes (hints of pineapple and melon). Quite fiery on the palate at first. Water smoothed things out, revealing spicy and peppery aspects nicely balanced with sweet fruits and a creamy mouth feel. Finish is medium-length and dry, but drifts into woody bitterness. More lively than I expected at this age.

Thank you Adri for the sample - a very good cask.
    • Nose
Warming and fruity at first nosing. Dominated by notes of caramel and oranges. Decent notes of oak from the Octave cask with honeyed sweetness. Develops with the aromas becoming stonger after some minutes. Soft, very good and tasty without any unpleasantness.
    • Taste
Balanced, sweet and elegant with caramel aromas at first mouthfeel. A little oily, quite some honey, toffee, hints of orange cake and weak notes of tea.
    • Finish
Long, the sweetness has disappeared, turning more into tea with a little sawdust. Remains always pleasant.
